Celebration Picnic

The end of the First Day School year will be celebrated with a picnic in the meetinghouse backyard on June 17.  The potluck picnic will be supplemented by food the children will be preparing during First Day School.  Come and spend some time meeting the growing (in number and height) dozen or so children who have been attending First Day School.

 

Being Salt and Light

The summer adult religious education program (Sundays, 9:15-10:15 a.m.) will be making use of the study booklet from the Sixth World Conference of Friends, that was held this April in Nakura, Kenya. The study booklet can be accessed at the FWCC website.

Compassion (in the Face of Difficult Things)

Annual Sessions  of Illinois Yearly Meeting will be held June  20-24 in McNabb, Ill. Registration is due by June 6 (online or PDF form to mail in).  Program & Registration Brochure and Workshops descriptions are available for downloading.

Among Friends

The Winter 2012 issue of ILYM's Among Friends is now available online. Print versions have been mailed. This issue includes an reflection on the Young Adult Leadership Development Program at Pendle Hill.  As well as articles on helping visitors to feel welcome, and a poem about the ILYM meetinghouse.  And find out what has been happening at various monthly meetings

 

 

Quaker Spring

Quaker Spring will take place June 24-29 in Barnesville, Ohio.  Welcoming to all Friends, this will be a time for Friends to gather to experience the Inward Christ together through Bible study, worship, quiet time, evening explorations and fellowship. Low & flexible fees to attend ($25-50 per day for adults, including meals). Children’s program & child care available by advanced request. Further information available at www.quakerspring.org.

 

2012 FGC Friends Gathering

The annual Friends Gathering of Friends General Conference will be at the University of Rhode Island (Kingston, RI), July 1-7. The 2012 theme is "All God's Critters Got a Place in the Choir."  For more information go to www.fgcquaker.org/gathering

 

 

Exploring Quakerism

The Religious Education program on second and fourth Sundays, 9:15-10:15 a.m., will focus on a series of discussions about our experiences and understandings of Quaker faith and practice. Sessions are independent of each other.

Children's Religious Education

First Day School for children will be on the first, second, third and fifth Sundays of the month, concurrent with Meeting for Worship at 10:30 a.m. Programs on the first, second and third Sundays will be part of the Godly Play and Faith & Play series. Programs on fifth Sundays will be reflections, explorations and activities around the seasons of Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer.
